Kyoto Protocol - The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. more>

Carbon Reduction Commitment The Carbon Reduction Commitment has been introduced by the UK Government to help the country to meet its target for reducing CO2 emissions. Organisations with a total annual electricity bill of over £500,000 will have to buy Carbon Credits which will cost £12 per Tonnes of CO2, based upon estimated emissions for the year. The organisation will then be put into a league table of ‘emissions reduction performance’ and the payments of carbon credits will be recycled back depending on the position in the league table. more>

Display Energy Certificates (DECs) - Display Energy Certificates are required by law for building with a total useful floor area over 1,000m2 that are occupied by a public authority and institution providing a public service to a large number of persons and therefore visited by those persons.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) - Buildings are responsible for almost 50 per cent of the UK's energy consumption and carbon emissions. The EPC is part of a series of measures being introduced across Europe to reflect legislation which will help cut buildings’ carbon emissions and tackle climate change. Since October 2008 all properties - homes, commercial and public buildings - when bought, sold, built or rented require an EPC.

Air Conditioning Inspections (ACIs) – On 1st January 2009, all air conditioning systems over 250kw must be inspected and by 4th January 2011, all systems over 12kw must be inspected. This is just one example of the ongoing compliance reporting that will be required as the government’s commitment to a low carbon economy gains momentum. We will keep up with legislation, and ensure our clients are not only up-to-date, but also ahead of the game.

Government White Paper - The UK Low Carbon Transition Plan plots out how the UK will meet the cut in emissions set out in the budget of 34% on 1990 levels by 2020. A 21% reduction has already been delivered – equivalent to cutting emissions entirely from four cities the size of London.

Transforming the country into a cleaner, greener and more prosperous place to live is at the heart
of our economic plans for Building Britain’s Future and ensuring the UK is ready to take advantage
of the opportunities ahead.
